Planet Fitness requires that all trainers have a personal training certification. Our trainers also need to be CPR/AED certified, which is often required to sit for a personal training certification exam in the first place. Individuals without a personal training certification should NOT be facilitating any training sessions as part of the PE@PF Program.
There's a lot of confusion as to which certifications are best. As a result, we've decided to partner with three reputable and well established certification organizations: the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF), and the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). The exams offered by these organizations are accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), which means that these programs meet the gold standard for personal trainer credentialing. Earning one of these accredited certifications means that you've met the established criteria to work as a
professional in fitness.
**Please note that these certifications are simply recommended by PFHQ. Trainers credentialed through other certification organizations are allowed to work in Planet Fitness clubs.
